• 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
• 1/4 Cup onions, grated
• 1 tablespoon Garlic-ginger paste
• 1/2 kg Kathal, peeled, chopped up and deep fried
• 1 tbsp Coriander powder
• 1/2 tablespoon Garam masala
• 1/2 tablespoon Turmeric powder
• 2 tablespoon Salt (or to taste)
• 1/2 tablespoon Chili powder (or to taste)
• 1 tablespoon Green chilies, chopped up fine
• 1 tablespoon Lemon juice (or to taste)
• 1 Cup rice, boiled to almost done
• 1/2 Cup coriander leaves
• 2 tbsp Oil
Heat oil and add cumin seeds.
Add onions and garlic-ginger paste. Sauté until golden brown.
Add kathal and stir fry all over low heat up until done.
Add all spices, table salt and green chilies. Mix well.
Cover and cook for about 5 minutes and mix in the citrus limon juice and one-half the coriander.
Remove one-half the veggies and layer with one-half the rice.
Cover with the remain of the veggie mixture and then, rice again.
Put on low heat, cover and allow cook for 10 minutes or so.
Serve, garnisheed with the coriander.
Kathal Biryani is ready.
