Maharashtrian Fish Gravy Recipe • 500 gm Slices of any white fish cleaned
• 2 tablespoon Red chilli powder
• 2 tbsp Tamarind paste
• 2 tablespoon Garlic paste
• 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
• 1/2 tablespoon Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tablespoon Asafoetida powder
• 1 Green chilli, slit
• 2 Flakes garlic mashed
• 1 tbsp Oil
• 1/2 Cup coconut milk
• Water as required
• Salt to taste
Wash the fish pieces properly.
Marinate them in a mixture of reddish chilli powder, tamarind paste, garlic paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder and table salt for 15 minutes.
Take a heavy-bottomed cooking pan and heat up the oil in it.
Add the mashed garlic, asafoetida and green chilli to it.
Add the marinaded fish and few water.
Cover and cook for 20 minutes until the fish is almost cooked.
Slowly stir in the coconut milk and bring in it to a boil on low heat.
Cover and cook all over low heat up for about 4 minutes until the fish is well-cooked but firm.
